"This lesson we're going to be talking about the modes. To introduce you to the mode we're going to talking about specifically the Mixolydian mode. What the modes are, are basically scales inside the major scale. So if you look at the major scale starting on C. We have C, D, E, F, G, A, B and then C. Now what we want to do is, what I want to show you is that there's also different scales inside of this scale. If we start the C scale, but on the fifth degree or the fifth note which is G. We have an entirely different scale, but using the same note from the C major scale. So we'll use all the same notes, but starting on G. We have G, A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. Right there we just played an entirely different scale, but it?s based upon the notes of the C major scale. So it?s basically a variation of the C major scale, and that's what modes are. So starting on the fifth degree we have what's called the Mixolydian mode. Just to show you again, it goes like this. And that's the Mixolydian mode."
