Video Transcript

"The last part of our high note series is singing a high note in the mixed voice. Now often, especially in musical theater, as you go to hit that high note you might belt it or you might sing it legit. However, in contemporary musical theater, there is a more contemporary sound that comes out of the mixed voice that still is in the high notes. And it's in legit family. So, it should sound like legit voice, only it has a little hat on. So it's still wide and open like a legit voice, but it's not quite as long. Here's another example. Notice how we still bring a little bit of the front teeth in as we would for a belt. You would use this for something like Light in the Piazza, which is definitely a legit, beautiful show, but it also has a little bit of a contemporary sound even when they're singing high."
