"What's up everyone I'm DJ PieceMeal and your watching Expert Village. All right so now I'm going to start with the basic differences between two turn tables that I started out with. This was the first turn table I ever brought, it turned out to be kind of a pretty big mistake and I'll tell you why. The two types of turn tables you have are the basic belt drive turn tables, and the direct drive turntable. These are the Technique 100's, this is a Gemini XL100 and when I talked about belt drive versus direct drive, what any good DJ that wants to remain competitive and have the best equipment, is going to look for the direct drive turn table, which is what I have up here. Now, when I say belt drive. This turn table is powered by a little, tiny belt right here that actually just broke which is why the turn table isn't that good. But this is the belt that powers the turn table. So as the plate spins the only things spinning it is this belt. The only disadvantage to that is the torque. Basically what the torque is the response time it takes to pull the record back and let it go. Good torque it should right on so you can pull it back, let it go, it should be right on. So you can pull it back and go and it won't skip a beat it should be right on track. So basically the Tech 12 right here, no belt outside, it's all direct drive. When you pull the record back and let it go, it's going to stay and catch up and be right on point."
