How to be Creative with Drum Cymbals

"Alright in this clip we're going to get a little more creative with the bells on the cymbals, the crashes, and on the ride, and we're going to use the high hat as well. Now for this, I'm just going to call it a buildup, I suppose, yeah, a buildup into an intro of the song. I'm going to use the butt end of the sticks because it's a lot more dense, and just to show you, hit the bell with the regular top of the stick first, makes that noise, and with hopefully the same amount of pressure, hit it with the butt of the stick. See, it's a lot deeper and a lot sharper. So I'm going to use that and I'm going to do a buildup using the bells of the ride first, then the crash, then both the crashes, and then add the high hat into a rock beat intro. So here's just a regular buildup."
