"Hi I'm Mario Amaya and on behalf of Expert Village in this segment I'm going to talk to you about using the free stroke right hand thumb technique in flamenco guitar playing. In the free stroke as it sounds the thumb does not rest on the next string as in the rest stroke it just plucks the string sliding again on the flesh of the thumb and plucking with the nail but just standing up in the air in the strings. Sometimes this is necessary for softer sounds for the rest strokes or to avoid hitting the next string when it is being played simultaneously as in that. Please see the next segment for information on using the Picado technique in flamenco guitar playing."
