"MAN: Sometimes, in the djembe ensemble, you also have the third accompaniment player play what's called a bass djembe. It depends on which rhythm you're doing and it depends on how many drummers you have. But you can add a bass djembe drummer and that's the very low sounding djembe. This specific one, I have a cow's skin on here which is a little bit more unique to do. You can have cow's skin or goatskin. The cow's skin is thicker. I take the hair off because I am playing it with my hands and the bass djembe will really connect the other djembes to the dunduns as far as the melody of the music. And you're mostly playing the bass and the tones. There are many different rhythms, here's an example."
