"A press kit is a set of materials that provides information about your band. Bands create press kits when they have been together long enough to play shows and they are looking to get gigs and other things in the areas that will promote themselves. Press kits are the means by which the band is connected to the media, venues and any other person that wants to use the group for shows. It is used for promoting and marketing the band. It is used for overall band exposure. Press kits can come in a variety of formats. The first example of press kits we will be talking about are tangible press kits. Here is an example of a tangible press kit. It includes the name of the band on the front and has some things about the band on the inside. Another type of press kit is as follows: This press kit has a little bit more to it on the inside. I will be discussing these press kits and what goes in them in this lesson."
