"We have now learned the F major scale. From the F major scale, there are many different things you can use to apply to make different groups of notes and different sounds to make music. For example, one of the major components of the scale is chords. A chord is a group of 3 or more notes from a scale that are put together in 3rds. Let's look; the first chord is based off pentatonic or the first note of the scale. This scale F major, this is the 1 chord it is broken up from the 1st note, the 3rd note and the 5th note of the F major scale. Since there is a note in between, these are called 3rds. The F major chord is called major because the type of quality of the chords of the intervals. We have the major 3rd from F to A. A major 3rd has 4 half steps if you remember. Let's look at the piano to get a idea of what makes up a major 3rd. We start on F and we go up one-half step, 2 half-step, 3 half-steps and 4 half-steps to the letter A. This is a 3rd. "
