"Mono block! This is a type of amplifier and most of the time when people hear the word mono block they associate it with being loud being expensive and you're about to hit really loud. Let's examine this mono block. What does mono mean? Mono is Latin antonym for single, as in single, monogamy single channel. What does single channel mean? Does it mean you'll only be able to hook up one speaker to it? No it does not! Mono blocks for the most part are able to bridge multiple woofers onto just two outputs. By being able to handle a lower ambient impedance load. I'm talking about like two ohm, one ohm which I shall get into a little bit later. This amplifier has a power, ground and remote just like any conventional amplifier. It's only two fuses. This amplifier is designed to handle large amounts of heat in high amounts of strain, because it's going to have multiple woofers bridged off of it. If you look on the back this amplifier has just a low pass filter, no full range, no high pass filter because it's not meant to run full range like tweeters or mid bass speakers, just sub-woofers. You could run mids on this if you wanted to because it does have a low pass filter. There are some mids that can handle frequencies that are above a hundred. There's tweeters that can handle frequencies thirty or forty hertz but that's just conjecture, it's more stuff than we need to talk about right now. There?s gain, a bass boost and a low pass filter. Input sensitivity! This amplifier is just a meat and potatoes amplifier to drive woofers but that does not mean that mono blocks are just suited for that. There are mono blocks that have full range capability that are used to bi-amp signal for full range. Theres a full range amplifier mono blocks that can do a tweeter at a time. There?s a lot of different applications but generally the most amplifiers that you're going to see on the market are meant for sub-woofers only. They?re going to be one ohms able, the majority are going to be digital or claim to be digital even though they're analog pre-stage with a digital post or a digital pre-stage with a mosfet primary stage. We will get into that later to because there?s varied amounts of power supplies, but this is the most common amplifier and what young people get excited about, what hobbyists get excited about. There you are, mono block."
