" Hi! My name is John Armstrong with expertvillage.com. I am a professional guitar instructor and today we will be discussing intermediate jazz guitar. Okay, next I would like to discuss the concept of 1st and 2nd endings. If you notice, if you take a look at this chart here, it starts off we have a repeat symbol right at the beginning. We go to the 1st 8 measures, and it brings us to another repeat symbol. Basically that 2 measure phrase over and over 4 times. You see this #1 in brackets here over that repeat symbol; well that is ending # 1; upon completion of that ending, it will take you back to the beginning and you will play through the second time, skipping ending #1, and just playing ending #2. So here it is right here. Starting from the beginning. I'll play endings #1 and #2...2 3 4. Second measure... that was the 4th... Here's my ending #1; it's the same thing. Back to the beginning. Now I am going to skip ending #1, and play ending #2, 2 measures of B Flat, major 7."
