" Hi! My name is John Armstrong with expertvillage.com. I'm a professional guitar instructor and today we are going to be studying beginning jazz guitar. Now I would like to discuss the next major 7 chord voicing. Now we are going to do this one with the root note off the 5th string or the A string. Going back to our major scale here are extended D major scale we will use as an example. This is a major 7 for voicing here which contains the root note of that major scale with the 5th note 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, 7 is the root and 5th 7. This note here will be our 3rd; 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 1,2,3, so root 5th, 6th 7th and 3rd and here at last we have a 5th, an A note; 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, and 1,2,3,4,5 so our root is 3rd, 5th's 6th and 7th arranged in this order. Root 5th, 7th, 3rd, 5th. This gives us the major 7 voicing. A movable major 7 voicing. Can do that in a E flat major 7; E major 7, B major 7. Root being on the 5th or A string. "
