"So first thing you got to learn is the basic groove. You're going to keep sixteenth notes on the high hat, and the bass drum is played on beats two and four, not beats one and three, the strong beat is two and four, so you have ... one E and-a, two E and-a, three E and-a, four E and-a....and also the snare drum will be played with a rim shot. Look at the snare drum, most of the time the groove is kept with a rim shot, also on two and four with the bass drum. So you have one E and-a, two E and-a, three E and-a, four E... that's the basic reggae groove."
