"Music. Okay, music is a big thing. It can be for both a feature and a documentary Some features don't really need any music. It just depends of course on the subject and stuff. Usually you need to find like local bands or a local musician and you can get the music that way. It isn't like you can afford like a top fortys song and pay the licensing fee or something. You're not going to be doing that. So, you've got to find people who do a good job and like the actors, you can put an ad in the newspaper or on the Internet or whatever looking for music for your production and just make sure it fits. If you just need instrumental for back, background just make sure that music is appropriate for whatever project you've done. Sometimes though like with a documentary, I'll finish the entire documentary first and then hand it over to a music guy who will do all the instrumental background stuff to exactly so it matches the production. So, the music was made specifically for the documentary. It didn't like exist outside of or for some other project. And a lot of times with the features, you use the local bands and stuff off their CD where they don't have a problem with you using it in their production. But again, as with the actors or with any talent you use, make sure with the music, whatever music you use and whatever music person that has done the music for you, have them sign a release form as well. Any type of service, just make sure you have the release form."
