"So, of course, with your subject, what you're doing, if its fiction, generally you have to have a script. Even if a documentary-if you're doing a documentary, you make a script as well. But also, you may not have a script. So, it kind of depends also with what your subject is, what your script is going to be. If you can write, that's great. You could write your own in a project. But again, if you're not the best writer, and you have a really good idea, find somebody else who can write that script for you. Because if you start off with a not-so-good script, you're going to have a not-so-great film. It isn't like you can improve upon it. And, for example, with some features I've done, even though they were scripted out and there's a scene between two characters, sometimes they would ad-lib, sometimes they would add something else to the part. And that works sometimes. It just depends what your intention is with making the film. And with the documentaries, they're not always scripted. All the documentaries I've done, they were unscripted documentaries. I knew what the subject was. I knew the point I wanted to get across. I, basically, came up with a whole list of questions I wanted answered. And, through the documentary, I answered all of those questions. So, it's kind of like a vague script, but nothing written out. No voice-overs, nothing like that. So, again, script is a really important for a feature, not so important to a documentary."
