"Hey Kevin, can you tell us about some of the parts of the tuba? Okay, I would say that probably the most important part of the tuba is this thing, which is called the mouthpiece, because if we don't have a mouthpiece, we can't make the sounds. Being that this is the biggest instrument, and the lowest, it also is the biggest mouthpiece of all the brass family. To get sounds out of the mouthpiece, you see that, that's compared to the trombone, which is the next biggest instrument, and it already looks like it can eat it for dinner. So, the way we get sounds out of a mouthpiece, we put out mouth up like this, we have something called an ambusher, which is just simply a French word the way we that hold our mouth and make the sound. If we make our jaw go lower, the sound is going to be lower. If we bring up our jaw, the sound it going to be higher. It's a combination of the mouthpiece and the valves that we push that gets us the sound that we want. "
