"To further promote your band, a lot bands develop street teams. Street teams are groups of people, usually fans, they get together and help promote your band. They go out onto the streets, quite literally, and help advertise for you. They put up posters and fliers all around where you are going to be having shows and in the hometowns of the bands. A street team is also important because they sell tickets and spread the word. Oftentimes, street teams are composed of younger fans, so they can help spread the word to younger people. I started a street team at a venue once and these are the different activities that the street team did. We had a list of shows for them to promote. We told them what their job was, which is the promoter to get people interested. We told them that in order to get people interested they post posters and fliers. They talk to people and got everyone excited. A lot of times for a street team it's great to include perks for them. Like giving them free concert tickets or free merchandise like tee shirts and bumper stickers for all of their help."
