"Hi, my name is Katrina Cook and I am the casting director and the president of Katz Casting. I am here on behalf of Expert Village.com to talk with you about union or non-union. As you may have seen on some head shot before like on Molly’s she has Sag listed underneath her name. This stands for screen actor's guild. Aftra is another one of the acting unions. If you are not Sag or Aftra you are obviously non-union. But this does not exclude you from being able to work on studio films because studio films are required to have a certain amount of background actors that are non-union. And by working on certain studio films it qualifies you to earn vouchers which can in turn be used towards a Sag membership. Some benefits of being in Sag includes you get paid a higher rate than non-union people and then you are also able to audition for speaking roles, whether it be one line or a principal role of many pages.
