An acting audition is a sample of a piece of work that an aspiring actor/actress performs in order to get hired for a role in a movie, play, or show. Casting directors hold auditions in order to view the range of an actor’s talent in the form of a memorized monologue or reading an act of work that the actor has never seen before. Often times, casting directors want to see emotion, body language and assumption of a particular part in the actor’s performance.

"My name is Katrina Cook and I am a casting director with Katz Casting. I am here on behalf of Expert Village.com to show you some important ways to build your resume. First of all if you will notice on the back of the headshot, I mentioned you need to have a resume. As you will notice here, she has quite a bit of experience listed on her resume which is attached on the back of your headshot. Now if you have not done anything before you will not be able to list all these things. You are going to start out basically listing your name, your contact information because you probably won’t have an agent yet. Start listing different things you have done perhaps plays in high school, plays that you are doing right now, any type of training that you have had, special skills and things like that. At the top put a note that you are ready to start building your resume. The first thing I would suggest doing is by being an extra. An extra is also known as a background player. It is all of the people in the background that makes up a scene behind the main actors. This helps you gain experience, to learn set protocol and most importantly to network with other actors as we all know that networking is the key to success in this business. "
