my name is Jude Parry from Gold Coast Theater Company in Miami Beach. Today I will be teaching you a little bit about the art of mime. You can see by the wide range of face on this page that you can do a lot with makeup even though these are only for children. As you get to be a professional, you do need to learn how to do all of these special effects that would create a old person. Maybe a bearded, or even a female if you are playing a man as kiss of the spider. But there is things that a mime does not have to do. You see a mime has white face all the time. It is almost like a white canvas that an artist uses to paint the expressions. The expressions that they use they might be anger, sadness or happiness or fear, and the expressions on my face would be magnified by a white face, so it is with most actors if you learn to expand your range of expression. The director would always tell you how much to use, it is better to have more and then tone it down even on film.
