"my name is Jude Parry from Gold Coast Theatre Company in Miami Beach. Today I will be teaching you a little bit about the art of mime. With the art of mime, you don't really need a lot of space. If I'm on stage and I want to walk somewhere I don't walk. What I do is I mime walk. I stay on the spot, but my feet start moving. If I had a plain background behind me, then you, the audience, would see the illusion of walking. You'd actually see the background actually moving next to me. Of course, I can increase that illusion as I'm walking by waving to people as I go by them or shaking their hands and making sure they're going by me as I'm walking in this direction. If you look at my feet, you will there a number of things going on. I have to go up on toes of one foot. Then as I push the other foot back, my heel drops to the ground. At the same time, I don't lose any height. You'll see that my height stays the same and that's what gives the illusion that I'm walking. I don't bob up and down but walk of an even key of my walking."
