"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Jude Parry from Gold Coast Theatre Company in Miami Beach. Today I will be teaching you a little bit about the art of mime. I've talked a lot about creating an illusion, but if you just create the illusion in space without anything going on in your head, it's pretty pointless. If you're in actor, you know important it is to have your imagination working. Sometimes mime, picking up objects and using them, it's what people call space work. It's very important to see what you're looking at before you pick it up. Whether it's a black kitten or a big old blunderbuss. You have to look at the object and really get the dimensions of it. There's a story by Arthur Miller, Death of a Salesman. When he was putting it on Broadway for the first time, his main actor, he wasn't getting from his main actor what he was seeing until the day he stood on stage and said, "One day all of this will be different." You can see in his eyes exactly what was on the stage, because that's the power of the imagination in the art of mime."
