my name is Jude Parry from Gold Coast Theatre Company in Miami Beach. Today I will be teaching you a little bit about the art of mime. After you've learned the solid surface, then you have to learn the fixed point. That means your hands stay still but your body moves away. You create a fixed point with any part of your body. It's only when you've created a fixed point is when you can really start to explore flat surfaces around you. Actually, you can also use at this point to impress your friends. If you want to hang around and there is no table to lean on, well guess what you can just lean in mid air. The fix point of course here is you elbow. If you watch me stand up, my elbow stays behind until I destroy the illusion. If I'm creating the illusion it's step one. Step two, step three, and I reverse the process. Step three, step two. My fix point is still there, and step one. If you create a fix point and it really looks good, then you can make anything happen. You can create walls that you can walk along, which we'll be doing next, or you can create surfaces that you can push. These are all a fix point in the art of mime.
