"Hi! This is Leslie Sack with expertvillage.com. My website is lesliesack.com and this is the cross basic Mambo. So far we've done our progressive basic and that's where we're not holding on. This is another pattern where you are not holding on to your partner. So you actually completely call it shine position when you are not holding on. Eventually you can also do this pattern in a closer position but it is easier to learn this without a partner. So I call it the trick yourself, catch yourself step. So based on the progressive basic, it looks like this cross back side forward and forward back back behind forward 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4. So if I'm the leader I can change my progressive basic and my partner will be in front of me and then 1, 2, 3, 4, or if I were a girl I just start on the back part. So we are doing this to next of each other. If I am going back, I am going forward. If I want to go back, I raise my left hand and then we go straight to the cross body lead. Then we are reconnected again. So if I can release her, I do 1, 2, 1 progressive basic and rock rock and then I do my cross basic. I can really start my cross basic either on the front or on the back. Just so you got something to do, gives you a little time to think so you don't have to do all that constant meeting."
