" Hi this is Leslie Sack with expertvillage.com. My website is lesliesack.com and the dance is merengue, and this is the ladies part for merengue. Count number one, you are going to be stepping with your right foot, and on the second step it is going to be on your left foot. So we are going to count 1,2,1,2. So normally we are counting on eights, so like I told the guys the story goes that Colonel Merengue from Dominican Republican came back from the war and he got shot on the right leg. So of course Mrs. Merengue wanted to make him feel good so she pretended, and all the other ladies in town pretended that they got shot on the left leg so they could mirror him. So you are going to pretend that you got shot in the left leg; so on the count of one your hips can go a little bit left, so that is your Cuban motion, 1,2, left. So your right knee is bent and your left knee is straight 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. So you could turn it, you just always on the one, you are stepping towards your right foot and on the two on your left. So it is 1,2,1,2,1,2 you could also walk it backwards or forward. So any direction that you go it is just like you are walking backwards naturally. You just trying to take little tiny steps and then get your hips moving more. So again, don't think about your hips, just think about what which foot you are on. Alright. "
