" Hi this is Leslie Sack with expertvillage.com. My website is lesliesack.com, and the dance is merengue. I'm just going to talk to you about how you are going to step in merengue and how you hold your body. So just like any of our Latin dances, you want to be lifted up, and you are just going to create your frame. Just bring your arms over your head elbows down like you are at the gym, you're doing a little lat pull down, and then you bring your elbows in front of you. So if I'm holding on, if I'm the leader, my left hand is up, my right hand is on my partner's back, on her scapula; and if I'm the lady, I'm like this. So I've got my body lifted and just slightly forward from my ankles. Just a little bit. Because, when we are forward, it is easier to get our hip action, and that is what we are going to talk about next. It is called the Cuban motion, and in merengue it is a perfect place to learn and practice your Cuban motion."
