"Now I'm going to explain a little bit about pirouettes, also what we consider turns in dancing. Now one of the most important parts to turns, or pirouettes, is going to be spotting. Continuous turning, obviously I'm sure you all know you'll get dizzy. However, spotting is a useful tool to keep from being dizzy. Now what you're going to want to do is stand flat on your feet, and you're going to want to focus on one specific point. What you're going to do is start to turn your body but keep your head still and your eyes focused on that one point. And then when you get to the point where you can't go anymore around, you're going to whip your head around, and then you're going to continue to walk around until facing forward. This is the same tool we're going to use when we're turning but you definitely want to do it slowly first to get used to it. So focus, turn, whip, turn back around, and focus again."

on 9/27/2009 Hi honey - I really appreciate your small video. I remember back when I was a child and was learning pirouettes I was getting dizzy every single time. My teacher never bothered to tell us to first practice it slowly instead of starting fast.
