Series Summary

Ballet is some of the most graceful, beautiful and demanding forms of dance in the world. As a male ballet dancer you must be light on your feet, strong and not afraid to look funny in tights. As a female ballet dancer or ballerina you must be all those things as well as resilient. One of the most difficult things about being a ballerina is dancing on the tips of your toes. This is a signature dance form of ballerinas that many seek to emulate and few accomplish well. This takes years of practice and conditioning of the body to be able to do. To all the little girls out there, while it is difficult to become a ballerina it is also fun and rewarding as well so work hard and you can be there one day.

Every little girl at one time or another thinks of being a ballerina. The beauty, the grace, the presence. It is a gorgeous art form that deserves respect. This free video series will explore some of the beginning facets to ballet dancing and address some of the most important things you need to know as you begin your dancing journey. You will learn about the 5 basic points or stances that ballerinas must know, what a pirouette is and how to do one and even how to lace up your toe shoes. Take a look for yourself and have fun!

"Hi I'm Mary Bankston and I'm here with Expert Village.com and I'm going to give you some tips on how to be a ballet dancer. I have an extensive background in ballet. I have trained with American Ballet Theater, I've had training in various different technical backgrounds for dance such as Vagonava which is more of a Russian technique, from the Royal method as well. I also danced in the Philippines with Ballet Manila which is based out of Manila in the Philippines. So hopefully I will be able to offer you a lot today. Today I'm going to go over pre-class stretching, some classic positions, arm movement, different stretches I'm also going to go over what end point means and some beginner point work. As well as give you a few tips that on things that will increase your ballet. First I want to discuss some safety techniques when doing ballet - Always make sure you have an open space to be dancing in, you don't want to be dancing near close objects because you could unfortunately hit yourself on them, hurt yourself permanently in that way also a lot of different people go to make sure they go to classes so that that way they have an instructor to watch them. That is definitely something I suggest for you to do. I don't want anyone to get permanently injured you could pull muscles, you can twist ankle and these are things I'm sure no one would like to encounter."
