Series Summary

Disco music and the dance steps that accompanied it in the 1970's were in fashion, and in many ways went beyond simple weekend pass times in their scope of influence. Movies like Saturday Night Fever nurtured the disco trends on the coat rack as well as the dance floor, shaping them as a sort of lifestyle as well as a fashion or music trend. The primary identifying part of that time period in American history as well as its finest culmination of events, however, is probably contained within John Travolta's dance scenes in Saturday Night Fever, which is still just as moving and inspiring as it was back then. Truly a testament to the lasting quality of at least that specific portion of 70's disco culture, the style of dance and steps used during that time have, for the most part, remained exhilarating to watch and fun to learn.

In this free instructional online video dance lesson, our dance instructors will show you how to do some of the most basic and impressive moves associated with disco and 70's music culture. Learn how to hustle, do rotation moves, fancy footwork and shallow step moves, then practice underarm turns and hand changes with your dance partner. Head out to the club and be astounded at how well the moves hold up to today's modern music!

" On behalf of Expert Village we will be demonstrating disco hustle. I'm Kelly Anne and I'm Steeve Jean Louis. Night club disco dancing also known as the hustle has remained popular even from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and today. There are still competitions lots of people are still dancing them when you go out to parties. Most night clubs dancing are spot dances which means they pretty much have 4-5 foot radius and you rotate within that. Just like a couple takes a spot on a dance floor the hustle is danced primarily in place. Thank you for watching our disco hustle demonstration on Expert Village.
