" Hi this is Kira Cogswell VanSteenkiste representing expertvillage.com you could contact me at michiganhighlanddance.com and in this clip I will be talking about the history and the basic movements of the Highland fling. Next you would take your foot to third arrow position and then you will take it back to third arrow position. Making one count for each movement to the position. When you add a hop the shedding would look like this. This is also done on the other foot. The next movement that I'm going to talk about is the toe and heels. The toe and heels are done in third position placing the working foot on the toe and then flexing the working foot and placing the working foot on the heel in the same position. This may also be done in third position putting the toe or in fifth position putting the toe in fifth position and placing it in fifth position on the heel. Again this is also done in conjunction with a hop. So demonstrate this you will do hop, placing the toe in third and hop, placing in on the heel. So will demonstrate a series of these. The last basic movement I will talk about is shedding with the turn. Pretty much this is just shedding doing the shedding as I demonstrated earlier but, adding a turn to it. So when you execute your shedding your are going to point into second position and for the turn your arms would be in first position. So you would point into second position and you will be turning away from your working foot if your working foot is pointing if the right foot is pointing you will be turning to the left. So since I have my right foot pointed I'm going to make my next movement to the back position turning to the left. So I will hop, taking my working foot to third arrow position facing the corner. I will then hop again taking my working foot to third arrow position facing the corner then I will hop again taking my working foot back to third arrow position. This may also be executed on the other foot."
