Painting is the art of using a pigmented medium to create a picture of reality filtered through the imagination, the senses, emotions, and life experience. Artists the world over have multiplied the uses of painting as a vital mode of human expression, whether recording history, retelling myth and legend, expressing religious fervor, or exploring the unknown. From early history to the present, we have records of men and women making graphic representations of their world, showing their understanding and their curiosity.
Acrylic painting has come on the scene in the last 50 years as a popular medium for artists who like to work quickly and prefer not to wait the long periods of time it takes oil paint to dry. Although not a replacement for oil paints, acrylic paints have also proved to be immune to yellowing and cracking over time.
In this free acrylic painting tutorial, learn the basics of how to paint, with acrylic painting tips and techniques for beginners, including painting instructions and an acrylic painting demonstration.
" Hi! I am Sandra Scheetz Wise at the Gallery One Artist gallery in Kissimmee, Florida and today on expertvillage.com we are going to talk about the different types of paints, oil versus watercolor versus acrylics. One thing about acrylics is, it can be changed if you make a mistake, when you paint with watercolor, it is a wonderful medium, but if you do lay the paint down a lot of times it doesn’t come back up. With oils for example it is a great medium also, the only problem is the time that it takes to dry. You can mix the paints around, but it does take a few days and sometimes weeks before it is dry, even months. With acrylics they usually have it dry within a day and it will usually cure within 4-6 months before you can add something over it to protect it. Another thing with acrylics that I like is that it is very forgiving. If you do make any kind of mistake you can paint over it and change it and that is really nice to do and I thank you a lot for me giving you this information and please look me up on my website and say hi at www.sandrascheetzwise.com."
