"Hi, my name is Sean Beck at Mom's Tattoos in Wilmington, North Carolina on behalf of Expert Village here to tell you a little bit about tattoo after care. I'm going to tell you a little bit about water and it is very important during your tattoo but it can be very damaging to your tattoo all the time. You are going to have to get your tattoo wet cause you are going to have to clean your tattoo and that is an obvious one. We don't recommend long exposures you know, like soaking your tattoos and laying in the bathtub for twenty or thirty minutes, it is going to make your tattoo get spongy, make it scab, it will pretty much just tear it up. So when you wash it take showers, use hot water, make the shower short. No ocean, do not go in the ocean; one the saltwater is going to dry your skin up, two the ocean is generally pretty nasty. We deal with that a lot here, we are down at the beach, so you know, with a fresh tattoo you don't want to go anywhere near the beach anyway, there is some sand, there is some water, you don't want any of that stuff. Pools, not good. Chlorine, I mean do you want to drink that stuff? Probably not, so you don't want your skin to soak it into your open wound of your tattoo. Hot tubs really bad. Don't use hot tubs at all, they got lots of nasty chemicals in there, there is lots of different people in hot tubs, so you don't know what is going on in there either. So basically when it comes to water, fresh water, short, keep it clean, keep it dry afterwards, dry it good afterwards, do not soak your tattoos."
