"Hi, I'm Sue Rose with Expert Village and today we're working on glazes and transparencies. We have done most of our fish but I have now decided that I want him really to stand out and I want to push the background back. So I'm going to add another glaze to it this time and this time I'm going to use an ultramarine blue. And I'm going to mix that ultramarine blue with a little bit of my green and I'm going to go as I said once again and darken the background. It will give it a much richer look to the finish painting, you can see what a difference this makes and how it makes the fish stand out even more. As I said previously be sure and just work in one direction and be sure always to dry in between layers in between glazes and transparencies. (painting) It doesn't make any difference if some places the paint is thicker or thinner than others because you want some of the under glaze of the other colors to show through. You want that feeling that you have under water and when I finish this top section I will give you a tip on how to make that happen. Just let me get this one little bit here done and if I want to have a little lighter section all I do is put my brush in the water and dry it and then I can take a little off here and I can take a little off here. Or I can always go in with the tissue and add more streaks to my under water. Stay tuned for our next segment on how to lift off in watercolor."
