Good morning again. On behalf of Expert Village, I'm here to show you another step in how to do a watercolor sunset. This is my original drawing that I have saved and I'm going to now transfer it using a light box to my watercolor paper. You may do this, or you may also if you do not have a light box, you may put this up against a lighted door or window and trace it that way. This is a very simple design that I am going to trace here. When working, one of the rules in watercolor is that you always use an original design. You do not copy someone else's artwork or artwork that is from a magazine. This happens to be from a photograph that I took of the lighthouse at Fort Warden from a sailboat. It's best to use a pencil with very soft lead so that you may erase the pencil drawing when you have finished your final product. This is going to be very loosely done. I shifted my paper a bit, but that's alright. Here is the pencil drawing done with very little detail. It's very loosely drawn onto the watercolor paper. Now, I'm ready to use masking tape and tape it down to my board and start painting. On the next segment will be on taping your watercolor to a board.
