today we are talking about the principles and elements of design. We've already discussed elements of design and now we are on to the principle. The first principle of design is balance and it is what shows the visual weights of objects, colors and texture and space. These should be balanced and make the design feel stable, stable rather. It means the design used on one side are similar to those on the side. In other words, you don't want this side of your canvas or your paper to be all round and curvy objects and this side over here to be all square and angular ob jets. One of the things that is also understood by most artists in doing a painting is that when you use objects particularly in a still life, you are always generally, primarily using 1, 3, 5 or 7. Do not use 2, 4, 6, 8 objects. This is to give some life in spontaneity to your painting so it is just not very common place. Remember also in our paintings you do not want all objects to be the same size. Stay tuned to the next segment when we will talk about emphasis in design.
