"I'm Susan Ting I am a potter and welcome to the Expert Village. The next step and the glaze itself is mixed with a lot of silica clay and also colorings in there. This glaze would eventually would turn red and that is what we have in cooper carbonated in there. Cooper when you do reduction firing when you take out the oxygen and that would turn green to red. So once the glaze is mixed well I use a tong to hold the pot and dip this pot into the glaze. Count 3 1,2,3, and take it out. Clean off the bottom (I can't do that very well) and see how the glaze dries up really fast. We need to clean the bottom this is where it is going to sit on the shelve when it is firing. Any glaze you have on the shelve it is going to stick on the shelve so a lot of care has to be taken care."
