Now we've drawn a lot of cats in various poses today, but have you ever suspected that your cat may be a superhero? Or something fun? Or maybe you like to dress up your cat for Holidays? Well, you can also do these type of drawings in your cartoons. So let's draw a costume cat, something a little more fun here. And this cat is running around trying to save the world. So we draw the basic cat shape again. Whiskers jutting outward. This cat is going to be shooting through the sky, though. So we're going to have it with one paw outstretched. We'll have little bands. Little bands on its paws. While the rest of the body is shooting back behind, including the tail. But we're also going to have a little cape here. This is our beginning sketch. You can have a little name piece over the main body. And I always like to have little booties as well. Now let's add a couple other effects to put some color to help demarcate the shapes from the cat and the costume. Now let's start by drawing in the cat's basic coat. This cat is going to be more of a medium brown color. Draw up here in the ears. Down on the hindquarters, the tail. So now you can very clearly see there is your cat which have clothing, versus those that do not. Now the next part we're going to do is put in some cool colors. Let's have brilliant bright colors. If your cat is out there fighting crime, it's going to need some brighter colors. Or at least a brighter shade of gray, since cats actually cannot see in color, just like dogs. Let's have a brilliant pink cape shooting out behind your cat, underneath it's legs. We can also make it where these booties are a nice little maroon color. I'm simply coloring these in. Largely staying inside the line. I'll also have the main piece of the costume also be red over the cat's midsection. And then over the back. Now, sometimes people also want to put a little mask on. That's fine, even if you colored it in, it's pretty easy to add one, like we're just doing right there. The last thing is just a couple more hints of purple here along the arms. You have to have some of that color combination going on for your costumes. Now, a problem you can get, especially whenever you've added a lot of ink onto the canvas, is some of the original black lines are harder to see. What's more you can probably use some shading. That's where you break back out your black pen. And a little bit of outlining can go a long way towards solidifying your cartoon. Just adding in outlines right here. Very, very basic ones. Maybe put a little bit of shading here on the cape. But you can see how this helps contrast with the background. It's not nearly as faded anymore. One of the traps of coloring is that you can often times overwhelm your original drawing, so watch out for that. And if you think it needs a little bit more, just simply go back over again with the black pen. Very lightly tracing over your earlier lines.
