Thank you very much. I watched the whole sey of videos. I learned a lot. The best videos for jewellery photography; I also photograph cut and rough opals and minerals, and I will use all the tips given. Really excellent and helpful

Hi. Michael Seto here again. In this clip we're going to talk about how to style and shoot a ring for jewelry. So rings tend to be fairly simple, but they actually can be complex as well. Let's take a look at this ring we have here that we're shooting for Lyndsay Colbus Jewelry of New York. I've got it in my little ring stand here right now but I actually don't like shooting with the ring stand all that often because you can see that it kind of overlaps the base of the ring and even though it blends in and it's white, it blends in with the plexi-glass, it still requires quite a bit of post productions work. So, in my mind, that's not the best way to photograph a ring so I'm going to take that out of there. What I like to do is set the ring at a little bit of an angle here so I'm actually shooting in this way. This gives me a chance to see the ring itself, especially if you have any artwork on the outside of the ring, you're going to see some of that, as well as you're going to get a good angle on the, the top of the ring, the jewel or in this case the bauble. That gives you the best of both worlds. So, not using a ring stand, I like to shoot rings kind of laying flat and coming in at an angle on them. So, there's a number of different ways of shooting rings but overall, just use your own eye, see what you like as well, the client or the art director or the designer themselves like the way you're setting it up.
