"In picking the right color for the picture you want to take a look at your picture and figure out what colors you have in the picture. The way that I was thought you pick the 3rd strongest color in your picture. You have a very strong green, you have very strong blues, that are in the background. The next color that you actually see is this orangey color right here. So I'm going to try to pull out that to make the cat stand up off the matte. To make it look more realistic. The top matte should be the 4th or 5th color which is going to be one of your lighter colors. It needs to kind of compliment your bottom color. At the same time you want to also think about your room, where you are going to put it and keep kind in mind if you already have a frame in mind as to what is going to look like with your frame."
