Series Summary

From the time of cavemen drawing has been not only a way of communication but also a form of expression. It wasn't until paper became readily available in Europe in the 1400's that the masters of drawing such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michaelangelo set the standard for great artists. Since that time not only have many more people become masters but the forms with which we draw have changed and evolved as well. New canvases such as computers and software have opened a whole new realm of art that was not available even 30 years ago. The way we look at art has even changed and evolved. Forms of abstract art that are argued by some to not be art at all hold as much value as a clearly drawn person. Many artists have found inspiration from the beauty of their surrounding, whether it be untouched nature or a bustling city scene.

This series will focus on the basics of drawing landscapes. Our expert Neha Ahuja shows you how to draw a landscape in these free video art lessons, including what sorts of art supplies you'll need to make your drawings, where to find examples of landscape drawing, and how to identify the distinguishing characteristics and details that define landscape drawing. She talks about the spiritual nature of landscapes, how to create and divide space in your landscape drawings, and techniques for adding depth, details and depicting character is your drawing. Watch these free videos and learn how to capture that stunning inspiring scene with a beautiful landscape drawing!

"Hi. This is Neha on behalf of Expert Village. Today I'm going to be talking about landscape drawing, but before we actually enter into this domain of landscape drawing, let me just talk about nature for a minute. Nature, the ultimate gift of God. The five elements as we think of fire, water, earth, space and air. Together compiled to form this beauty of nature. Each time we see the sun rising and we see the sun setting, those lovely stars in the night sky on a full moon night. That wind blowing in the season of autumn and that lovely washing rain is something which completely, completely takes our hearts away and which is extremely well captured in movies by artists, by cinematographers, by art directors and of course now is the time when you yourself can also capture this nature in the form of none other but landscape drawing."
