Now let's look at the process of creating images using multiple colors. Thus far, the images that we have created are just monochromatic and black and white. If we wanted to create a polychromatic mini-color image we can combine the use of linoleum with the use of wood with multiple blocks and multiple colors printed one right over the top of one another to create a multi-color image. As we see here we have a yellow block which carries some of the information and it utilizes all of these techniques that we have shown; the cutting of the block, the roughing up of the wood grain. We have a blue block as well that has the wood grain roughed up and marks cut at an angle to create light and value. We also have a red block where we have roughed up the wood grain again and cut corresponding lines that match up to all of the blocks. And in this case we have a block here that I print with a white tone on it, a white gray tone and a black tone on the bottom to create a value and an atmosphere. And then we have the key block which is this image here that prints over the top of all of these blocks to create our polychromatic image. So as you can see you are not limited to just black and white. With the combination of both of these techniques and both of these materials and all of the methods of cutting and inking it will create a really interesting image using all of these processes.
