So once we chosen our paper, we need to prepare the paper for printing. There's a few ways to do this. You could prepare everything a head of time and cut the paper perfectly to size and match it up to the block. If I was going to addition, I would probably have my paper size and everything all cut but in this case we're just proofing and in most cases what I tend to do is cut a piece of paper larger than I want it in the end. So, I then can print my block on the surface of the paper and trim the paper down after the ink is dried to a matching size all the way around which will be easy for a framer to deal with in the future. So to do this, what I'm going to do is centrally is I'm going to take my sheet of paper. I'm going to fold it in half bifurcated right and crease that halfway point. Another thing I like to do is make sure that I'm tearing the paper from the backside. The side that I'm not going to print on and using what's called a Decobar which is just a big of stainless steel. A nice heavy duty metal ruler is all you need. This is a little fancier. You place that where those two folds were and carefully at about a forty-five degree angle, you tear this paper in half. Noting that this deco edge. This suto deco edges is what a print maker is looking for and we're ready then to use this sheet to proof our wood block.
