" Hi! I’m John Junger. I do the painting that we’re going to be talking about, the watercolors. I’m here representing expertvillage.com. This clip will deal with the colors, the watercolors themselves. The video can’t show you the myriad of different watercolors that are available to the artist to purchase, but it certainly can be confusing as to what is watercolor today. Some the products on the market, like these tubes here, which are an oil but it’s a water soluble, water based paint. In other words, it can be diluted with water. It can be painted like a watercolor, but it does not have the same texture or feel. It’s more an intermediate between oil and watercolor. Some people use them with good effect. I always stick to traditional watercolors, using very little opaques or other material in my watercolor. There are gauch, which goes way back in art history, watercolors. They’re more opaque. They come in many different brands. However, they’re not the transparent watercolors that I like to use mostly in my work. If you want to use a few stroke of a more opaque watercolor, this is what I would use. "
