Hi! I’m John Junger. I do the paintings that we’re going to be talking about, the watercolors. I’m here representing expertvillage.com. In discussion of paper, I should go into a little bit why there are the different weights. For one thing, when you’re working small, a lighter weight paper, it servers you just as well. If you’re not going to be doing a lot of reworking on the paper, the weight is important. Also, if you want the paper to stay wet once it’s wet, the heavier paper will of course absorb more water and stay wet longer. If you’re going to re-wet the paper while you’re working with it, it might be good to have a heavier paper than to try and re-wet it. The smaller sheets like this, can be a lighter paper. This is used for printing, but it can also be used for watercolor. It’s 100 % rag, but it also doesn’t take the watercolor quite the same. It gets a little fuzzier and open. This is more of an open grain kind of paper.
