I like jullettes, ideas and how you must look at the obejects as a whole ..its helped me look at my subject matter in a different way and reshaped the way i think about my painting, appoach, very helpful!

Hi this is Julia Karch for Expert Village.com. In this video series we will be talking about still life drawing for beginners. In this section we are going to be talking about the form and structure of your still life. The important thing is to not look at each object individually. If you are going to approach a drawing, it is to look at it as a whole and how each object relates to one another. So when you start your drawing you basically start out with a light sketch. I’m going to begin something quickly here which is one of the thinner pens I have lightly drawing how the forms related to one another. Whatever works for you as far as approaching the drawing, it might not look good in the beginning but the important to remember is to know that you are going to build upon the drawing. So you want to work with of course the outside shape, the outline of it but you also want to think about how it is a 3 dimensional object on the paper. As you can see, these 3 objects are working as a whole and also it doesn’t have to perfect because we are not aiming for perfection here. We are aiming to enjoy this drawing and having some sense of satisfaction from a drawing that one has completed on their own. Also something to keep in mind is perspective. I use the pen a lot. There’s a line coming down this way, there’s a line coming down this way. There’s also the edge of this to this which is coming. These are approximate measurements and like I said I’m not trying to do anything perfect here.
