"Hi this is Julia Karch for Expert Village.com. In this video series we will be talking about still life drawing for beginners. In this section we are going to look at sketching from life, being spontaneous, taking a piece of paper from your copier machine, looking at what is in front of you and not making a big deal about drawing. I basically have a Bic Pen in my hand here and I have a light bulb that is on its top. If I wanted to train my eye and just look up what I am doing I am going to draw this from what t is. Probably what I will do with this object is maybe just for fun see what I see from the outline of it. I’m really looking for a finished product here. I’m just looking to train my eye and look at it as an exercise. I know that there is shading underneath here and these kinds of projects are probably the best in training you to get something that is actually good at some time of the future. I know that there is a line here. That’s a line circle and here and at the top where the light bulb screws in there are a few lines. This could be a little bit more challenging but really it is about training the eye to see. I could even pull in something from the background. I know that at a distance there is a folder that is in a straight line, an angle in the back but doing these kinds of projects, kind of teaches you to be not so much of a perfectionist but to just draw for the sake of drawing. See what is in front of you and to look more closely at objects that are around you. "
