Hi this is Julia Karch for Expert Village.com. In this video series we will be talking about still life drawing for beginners. While setting up a still life you choose objects that you are interested in drawing. Also for a beginner it is good to pick simple forms. I picked something that is a little bit more complicated with these acorn squash because they ridges in them but I would also get a little but more depth with them because there are areas that can be shaded. You can use anything that you want. You can use fruit, vegetables or glass objects. For instance, a still life can be two objects, three objects. You can put a glass in it. You want to think about lighting. The more dramatic the light is the more shade you will get and actually the easier it will be to describe volume, form and shape. So it is best to do it with artificial lighting with a little bit of variation of forms. I am just going to do this and keep them close together so that I can work on the relationship of each object to one another.
