"Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. At this point, you should put any kind of decorations that you want on the book cover. On this book cover, if you fold these flaps out, this is going to be the outside of our book cover. I'm going to put a ribbon down the center seam and then any other kind of decorations that you would like to put on it, now is a good time to put on. To put the spine ribbon on, first measure it up here and go about 1/2 inch further than our marks. These are the edge of the bookmarks. We're going to go 1/2 inch bigger than that on both sides and cut it. Our fold mark here that we folded when we cut it in half, that's the center of the spine. You're going to want to lay the ribbon down the exact center. I find that it's very helpful to glue it on first before we sew it. The glue will hold it in place a lot better than pins. I find that when you pin a ribbon on and you start to sew, it wants to shift. If you glue it down with some fabric glue, this is a tacky glue, very thick. You glue that down first. Then it will not shift while you're sewing it. You'll have a nice straight seam. Center this end and hold it down, and then pull the ribbon taut and center the other end. Then you'll have a nice straight ribbon running down the spine of the book. Let that dry and then we'll be doing our sewing. "
