"So a little bit about watercolor papers. There are basically three different kinds of watercolor paper and the variety of weights. The hot press is a smoother finish and the texture of paper is a rougher finish. Then the cold press is somewhere in between I think that the easiest to work on is the cold press. It's a little bit hard to get the watercolors to grab on to the hot press and sometimes the textured papers it gives you the rough edges. If you're trying to get a clean line, it's just difficult to do that so I recommend the cold press and also you probably want to go with a little heavier weight. Because if you're, beginning chances are you are going to be getting the paper fairly wet and maybe going back over into it so if you have a thinner weight paper than the paper just doesn't hold up as well. So try to get a nice heavy weight cold press paper and that should be really good for you."
