"Hi I'm Marcia Matcham speaking on behalf on Expert Village. The way you give depth to something or make it make it appear to seem further away is by greying the tones. And one of the ways you can grey a tone is by using the color of the opposite of the color wheel from the color you want to grey. And in this case of the pig painting my green in the forground, I greyed it by added a little lavender to it. And alot of this color back here is lavender, and you still want some of these red flowers here in the foreground still need to be here and there in the background. I greyed the red down by adding a tiny bit of turquoise to it. So thats a good way to softened a color is to by just putting touch of color on the opposite side of the color wheel."
