Summary: Learn about how to use reference points when you are drawing a turkey in this free video art lesson.
"Hello I'm Matt Cail and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you easy ways to draw turkey cartoons for this holiday season. Whether they are drawn realistic or cartoon like drawings points of reference are really great. The points of reference is for if you are picking up a pencil or a pen for the first time or if you have been drawing, painting and making art for over two decades. Really all there is level of scale. It kind of helps to have a picture or other points of reference of what you are drawing. You know take this for example this photograph. Now we are not going to be doing a realistic turkey today. Our turkey is going to be more cartoonish but this kind of gives a general idea in favor for like the general turkey body. Which we are going to exaggerate and over emphasis, we would cartoonize our turkey. Also you can get a good guide line at what colors that you are going to be needing. I mean if you don't even look at this thing again, you put it down and forget about it keep in mind the colors. Pictures are very useful for that but it does not have to be just a photograph it could also be in a little objects that you may have around the house. Little Thanksgiving items you have around the house of turkeys. Again, these are useful for coloring, for coloring purposes and you can also see some of them might have a slightly cartoonish quality. What I suggest doing is on your table usually put your photograph up over to the side on the right or the left hand side. You take some tape, you tape it down so it is going to stay put and not be sliding around, not getting in your way. Then you would be ready to go, ready to start drawing at the same time occasionally looking at your reference."
